WE FOUND PARADISE
We are just back from the most incredible trip to the Maldives and literally found paradise it is exactly as it looks in the brochures.
Turquoise waters, white sands and sunshine.
The Maldives is a tropical destination situated in the Indian Ocean with over 1,000 islands it offers total relaxation, some of the most luxurious accommodation combined with spectacular food an incredible level of service.
Having worked in the travel industry for over 35 years this was somewhere where I had always dreamed of going and was on my bucket list.
So many people think that the Maldives would be too quiet for them which many of the islands are and for some that is the perfect holiday, but I wanted a island with lots of choice.
So in in 2020 an island called Siyam World was opened which is a brand-new concept and vision. It is one of the largest islands in the Maldives which is 54 hectares.
It has the Indian Oceans biggest floating water park and a huge choice of water sports for all the thrill seekers.
Siyam World has an international football pitch and regularly offers football training camps with football legends.
It not only has tennis courts, but it also has a Padel tennis court along with a full program of activities every day and evening including early morning Yoga and meditation.
So let me take you on our journey …..
We travelled from Glasgow with Emirates on the amazing new A380 and flew via Dubai which is approximately and 8-hour flight and then a connecting flight on to the Male flight which is 4.5 hours.
On arrival into Male, we were met by the Sun Siyam team and taken to a lovely lounge to wait on our Sea Plane transfer. I was a little nervous about that part of the journey, but it was spectacular and, in my opinion, the only way to arrive in the Maldives as it gives you an overview and you get the see the beauty of all the atolls from above.
We were met by the staff with refreshing cold towels and drinks on the small arrival jetty and then taken by golf buggy to the hotel reception for check in.
Siyam World have lots of room options but their lead in room is an over water bungalow with your own pool and slide which is so much fun.
We had an ocean villa with pool and slide and could have not left our room as the view was breathtaking.
Over the 54 hectares there is a choice of 12 restaurants and bars offering so much choice.
There are 24-hour golf buggies going around the island to drop you off anywhere you want so you never wait more than a few minutes to get picked up.
It offers a fully all-inclusive package with pretty much everything included except for any SPA treatments and some motorised water sports.
We hired a MOKE for the afternoon and went off an explored the island on our own which was so much fun – there is 4km of white sandy beaches and they were deserted so you honestly felt that you were on the island on your own.
Each evening there was plenty of entertainment on offer or just go and sit and listen to ocean whilst having cocktails.
We also took a speedboat over to visit another one of the Sun Siyam islands Iru Fushi which was also stunning but smaller and quieter than Siyam World.
We were there in what is classed as the wet season however we had sunshine all day every day with a little rain a few times over night.
The Maldives sees sunshine pretty much all year round so don’t be out off by the rainy season.
It is still our number one honeymoon destination for clients, and many will combine it with a stop off in Dubai or do a twin centre with perhaps Sri Lanka.
What was the biggest surprise to me was to how family friendly this resort was and the number of multi-generational families. We are seeing a massive rise in multi-generational holidays since the pandemic.
So, if you were like me and though the Maldives was too quiet then Siyam World is perfect for you.
We have come back feeling relaxed and totally recharged ready for our next adventure.
LIFE IS SHORT AND IS HERE TO BE LIVED …. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR
