DUBAI – Why is it trending
When you think about Dubai you immediately think luxury and you would be right and it has quickly become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.
Dubai is located on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering the Persian Gulf and is very accessible from all over the world. The flights from the takes 7.5 hours and is the perfect stopover destination and the gateway to rest of the world.
We have direct flights from Glasgow every day with Emirates Airlines who fly the incredible A380 daily and from November we will also have a daily direct service from Edinburgh. We also have great connections with indirect British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa.
Dubai offers all year-round sunshine so is very popular in the winter months to guarantee sunshine. During the summer months it is very hot, and temperatures can be more than 45 degrees. You will see some amazing deals during our peak summer dates and in some instances be cheaper that the Mediterranean however be mindful of how hot it will be, and you will spend more time indoors with air conditioning than enjoying the Arabian beaches.
Before we go on let’s mention the culture – it is a Muslim country and follows strict laws which over the years have most certainly relaxed, but my advice is the same for Dubai as it is for all over the world be aware of local culture and laws and always be respectful and you wont go wrong.
Dubai has a nice mix of modern and tradition making it a great holiday destination. There is an abundance of 5* hotels so you are spoilt for choice. Some of the highest skyscrapers in the world are found here. There is the iconic Burj Kalifa which currently is the tallest building in the world and from here you can get the best views of the city and the surrounding desert. I would recommend that if you want to go up to the observation deck that you book this in advance.
It now has one of the most vibrant marinas in the world with an array of shopping and restaurants coupled with luxury yachts it is the perfect place to soak up sun and enjoy people watching while enjoying a cocktail in one of the many wine bars.
Shopping is a different level and is honestly a shopper paradise it is home to some of the most luxurious shopping malls in the world one of these being the Dubai Mall which is home to over 1200 luxury shops and has an indoor aquarium, indoor theme park and an ice rink so the perfect place to go and cool down. The other big mall is the Mall of Emirates, and this one has an indoor ski resort. I would also recommend that you take a stroll through some of the traditional boutiques and souks this is where you can haggle for your souvenirs and gifts.
Dubai as well as the luxury hotels and high-end shopping it has a rich cultural heritage and would urge you to take some time to experience the culture where you can have a glimpse into the old Dubai before the transformation.
I have been a visitor to Dubai for many years and when I think back to when I first visited the city to today it is completely unrecognisable.
Let’s talk about dining and this city has it all and is so diverse – from high end Michelin star restaurants to street food and lots in between. Pretty much every celebrity chef will have a dining outlet in Dubai. Typical Emirati food would be things like shawarma, hummus, and falafel. Dubai has it all when it comes to food so is a real foodie destination. It has so many stunning rooftop bars and restaurants so dinner will be with a view.
Dubai is for sure a destination for all the adrenaline junkies you can take a ride on the world’s fastest roller coaster, enjoy dune bashing on a desert safari, zip line, sky dives so if you are a thrill seeker you will be spoilt for choice.
Golf in Dubai is world class and is home to some of the finest courses in the world and each years hosts many tournaments.
Horse Racing is a big deal on the Dubai calendar and is home to the Dubai World Cup which is said to be the most prestigious horse race in the world.
The hotels in Dubai are different class and would not know where to start as there is just so many choices but most clients will stay on Jumeriah Beach, the Marina or the Palm but no matter where you choose you will not be disappointed as the hotels are such a great standard and they pride themselves in offering unparallelled service.
So, in conclusion, Dubai is not just skyscrapers it has something for everyone from ancient traditions, pristine beaches, thrill seeking adventures, or you just want to shop till you drop then add Dubai to your list of must try places.
